ArkTheory Foundation
A nonprofit organization based in Zambia, dedicated to fostering creative innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship — empowering communities through bold, collaborative programs and transformative initiatives that shape the future of Zambia's — and Africa's — creative sector.
Our Story
ArkTheory was born from a simple recognition: Zambia's creative sector is rich in talent but constrained by fragmented support. Existing initiatives too often operate in silos — short-term training here, an isolated festival there — with little follow-through into sustainable careers.
We founded ArkTheory to close that gap: a coordinated pipeline that identifies promising talent, trains it, gives it a stage, links it to opportunity, and supports long-term careers — not a series of one-off events.
To design and deliver integrated creative development programs that turn raw talent into skilled, entrepreneurial, and socially engaged creators, while building a more connected and professionalized arts ecosystem in Zambia.
A Zambia where young creatives have the structure, support, and platforms they need to build sustainable careers and use their art to drive positive social change.

3–5 YEAR GOALOver our first three years, we're aiming to train at least 300 emerging Zambian creatives — at least half of them women, and at least 30% from low-income communities — and build a network of 40+ mentors, trainers, and cultural experts across Zambia.
Targets for our first three years — not yet-achieved results. Track our real progress on the Impact page as it comes in.

Impact Statement
Our goal is for every artist we support and every community we work with to leave with more than a workshop certificate — a sustainable pathway to income, recognition, and creative growth. We measure our impact not just in workshops held, but in careers launched and stories preserved.
How we work.
Platform Creation
We design accessible, well-built platforms and experiences that connect African voices, audiences, and strengthen local ecosystems.
Capacity Strengthening
We invest in knowledge transfer, mentorship, and professional development so skills and careers can be sustained locally.
Sector Collaboration
We partner with governments, private-sector actors, and cultural institutions to strengthen the policy, infrastructure, and long-term growth of the creative economy.
Leadership built on trust.
We believe great leadership begins with radical transparency and an unwavering commitment to accountability. Our leadership grounds every decision in credibility and integrity, so ArkTheory can grow with purpose and clarity.
The team steering ArkTheory forward.
Bernard Chipepo
Bernard founded ArkTheory Foundation out of a conviction that Zambia's creative sector needed a coordinated, long-term support system rather than one-off events. He leads the Foundation's overall strategy, partnerships, and fundraising, and represents ArkTheory in its work with donors, government, and regional creative networks.
Kelvin Mulenga
Kelvin oversees the operational backbone of ArkTheory — from program logistics to organizational administration — ensuring that initiatives like the Creative Skills Accelerator and Community Arts & Storytelling Labs are delivered on time, on budget, and to the communities that need them most.
Charmaine Chilufya
Charmaine shapes the artistic vision behind ArkTheory's programs, curating the creative quality and integrity of everything from training curricula to public showcases and festival programming.
Built on transparency, driven by accountability.
We hold ourselves to the highest standards of integrity and openness, ensuring every stakeholder has full visibility into our operations, finances, and impact.
Let's build the creative future together.
